"Suicide is an end product, not the issue."
My friend on how media never addresses depression as a medical issue. You will hear repeatedly about the tragic losses of many to suicide, most recently Robin Williams. But what is almost as tragic is how the media makes out suicide to be a straightforward choice as opposed to a last resort after a long struggle. It’s terrible how so many people in the spotlight have taken their own lives and yet the media scarcely mentions “depression”. Everyone seems to have this mentality that “it’ll get better with time” or “just hang in there”, but depression isn’t a spout of sadness it’s a mental illness that people are not willing to talk about.  (via grosshayward)
